Don’t Fight Criminals, Save Your Life First — Police Advise Nigerians

News

The Nigeria Police Force has urged Nigerians to prioritise their safety by avoiding confrontation with criminals in life-threatening situations.

According to the police, citizens who find themselves in the midst of armed robbery, kidnapping or other violent crimes should remain calm and avoid struggling or attempting to fight back, as such actions could escalate the situation and put their lives at greater risk.

The advice was shared during a recent public safety awareness message, where the police emphasised that no material possession is worth a human life. Officers noted that criminals are often armed and unpredictable, making resistance extremely dangerous.

The police further encouraged Nigerians to comply when necessary, observe details discreetly, and report incidents promptly to the nearest police station or through official emergency channels once they are safe.

Reassuring the public, the Nigeria Police Force stated that it remains committed to protecting lives and property, while also intensifying efforts to combat crime across the country. Citizens were also advised to stay vigilant, avoid high-risk areas when possible, and cooperate with security agencies in the fight against criminal activities.
