Operatives of the Edo State Security Corps have arrested a 21-year-old man over the alleged kidnapping of a four-year-old boy, following a timely alert raised by a bus driver.
According to reports, the suspect was apprehended after the driver became suspicious of his behaviour while travelling with the young child. The driver reportedly noticed that the boy appeared distressed and could not properly identify the man accompanying him. Sensing that something was wrong, he raised an alarm, drawing the attention of security personnel.
The swift intervention of operatives led to the arrest of the suspect and the rescue of the child. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man could not give a convincing explanation of his relationship with the boy, prompting further suspicion.
The rescued child has since been reunited with his family, while the suspect is currently in custody as investigations continue. Authorities said the case will be transferred to the appropriate law enforcement agency for further action and possible prosecution.
The Edo State Security Corps has commended the vigilance of the bus driver and urged residents to remain alert and report suspicious movements, especially those involving children, to security agencies.
