The decision followed a request by the prosecution, which asked the court to revive the charge after it was earlier struck out. The government explained that fresh evidence had emerged and assured the court of its readiness to diligently prosecute the matter.
Counsel to the Federal Government argued that reopening the case was in the interest of justice, particularly given the seriousness of the allegations and their implications for national security. The defence did not raise strong objections to the application.
In his ruling, the presiding judge agreed that the application had merit and granted the request, ordering that the terrorism charge be reinstated. The court subsequently fixed a new date for the defendants to be arraigned and for further proceedings.
