Nigerian Army troops have successfully foiled a planned terrorist attack in Borno State, dealing a major blow to insurgent activities in the region.

According to military sources, the operation was carried out following credible intelligence about the movement and intentions of suspected terrorists. Troops swiftly engaged the insurgents in a coordinated operation, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire.

During the encounter, several terrorists were neutralised, while others fled with gunshot wounds. The troops also recovered a large cache of weapons, ammunition and logistics, including firearms, explosives, motorcycles and communication devices believed to be intended for carrying out attacks on civilian communities and security formations.

The Nigerian Army said no casualties were recorded on the side of the troops, describing the operation as a significant success in ongoing efforts to restore peace and security in the North-East.
