Lagos State Police Command has arrested five individuals, including a teenager, for allegedly staging a fake kidnapping to extort money. The suspects reportedly targeted a young boy, demanding ₦1.7 million from his mother under the pretense that her son had been kidnapped.
The police said the scheme was carefully planned, but quick action by detectives led to the suspects’ arrest before any harm came to the boy.
Investigations are ongoing, and the suspects are expected to face charges of kidnapping and extortion.
The police have urged parents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to prevent such crimes.
