Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have foiled a robbery attempt and arrested a 28-year-old suspect found in possession of an imitation firearm.
According to the police, the arrest followed a distress call received from residents of Independence Layout, Enugu, who reported suspicious activity in the area. Acting swiftly on the information, officers were deployed to the scene, where they intercepted and apprehended the suspect.
A search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of a fake firearm, believed to have been intended for use in intimidating victims during the planned robbery. The police noted that the timely response of officers prevented the crime and ensured the safety of residents.
The suspect has been taken into custody and is currently undergoing investigation. The police assured that he will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The Enugu State Police Command commended members of the public for their vigilance and urged residents to continue providing timely information to security agencies to help curb crime in the state.
