The Jigawa State Police Command has launched an investigation after a 60-year-old man reportedly died while staying at a hotel in Dutse with a 20-year-old woman.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the incident occurred on Tuesday, July 21. The man had checked into the hotel with the young woman before the situation took a tragic turn.
Police said the man requested a meal but suddenly developed a medical emergency and began gasping for air. Officers attached to the Yalwawa Division responded quickly after receiving a distress call and rushed him to the General Hospital in Dutse.
Doctors at the hospital later confirmed him dead.
During an examination of the hotel room, detectives recovered food items, drinks, a suspected sexual enhancement substance, and other personal belongings, which have been taken for further investigation.
The deceased’s body was subsequently released to his family for burial at their request.
Meanwhile, the 20-year-old woman who was with him is assisting the police with their investigation by providing information about the events leading up to the incident. Police say inquiries are ongoing to determine the exact cause of death.
