Four people were injured on Wednesday after a truck loaded with bags of onions struck an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Lingir Village, Guzamala Local Government Area of Borno State.
The vehicle was travelling from Baga in Kukawa LGA and heading to Maiduguri when the IED exploded, leaving the driver and three passengers wounded. Security sources say the incident is suspected to be the work of Boko Haram terrorists, who often plant explosives along rural routes to target commuters and security personnel.
In a separate incident in neighbouring Yobe State, Boko Haram fighters attacked the home of a police officer. Although details of casualties were not immediately available, the assault underscores the continued threat posed by the insurgents across the region.
Both incidents highlight the persistent insecurity affecting communities in the North-East despite ongoing military operations to curb terrorist activities.
