“Don’t Exaggerate My Minor Missteps” – Remi Tinubu Responds After Adeleke Mic Incident

News

Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has reacted to the backlash over her behavior at the 10th coronation anniversary of the Ooni of Ife, where she was also honored with the title Yeye Asiwaju Gbogbo Ile Oodua.

During the event, she reportedly told Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke to stop singing or she would turn off his microphone, adding he had “five minutes to conclude” his tribute to the Ooni and her chieftaincy title.

In response to criticism online, she posted on Facebook that people often blow minor mistakes out of proportion. “Those entrusted with leadership understand their duties… More often, it is followers and critics who scrutinize every step, amplify minor missteps, and turn them into needless controversy,” she wrote, alongside a photo with Adeleke.

The incident sparked outrage on social media, with many describing her actions as disrespectful and dictatorial, while some drew comparisons to former First Lady Patience Jonathan.

So far, the Osun State government has not commented on the controversy.
