Pro-Biafra Coalition Vows to Intensify Agitation Despite Nnamdi Kanu’s Life Sentence

News

A coalition of pro-Biafra groups has insisted that the reported sentencing of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu, to life imprisonment will not diminish their determination to pursue the actualization of Biafra.

In a joint statement issued on Friday, the coalition described the development as “another attempt to intimidate the Biafran struggle,” stressing that no form of punishment or political pressure would force them to abandon their cause. They argued that the ruling further exposed what they termed longstanding injustices against the people of the South-East.

The groups noted that rather than silence the push for self-determination, the situation would only strengthen their resolve to continue with their agitation through civil and non-violent means. They also called on the international community, human rights bodies, and diplomatic missions to intervene and ensure that Kanu’s rights are protected.

While urging supporters across the region to remain calm and law-abiding, the coalition maintained that the dream of Biafra remains intact, adding that no amount of suppression would derail the movement’s mission.
