A Nigerian woman has shared her heartbreak after discovering through Facebook that her 70-year-old father is set to marry a 35-year-old woman on September 10.
According to the lady, she found out about her father’s upcoming marriage after a friend sent her a Facebook post announcing the development. She expressed disbelief that her father did not personally call her or inform the family before making the announcement public.
She recalled how, growing up, her father was her role model and the standard she wanted in a future partner.
“This guy used to be my favourite person in the whole world. He was my standard for everything,” she said.
However, she explained that her perception of him changed after learning about his planned marriage to a woman she described as being half his age.
The woman also praised her mother for standing by the family during difficult times, saying her mother made significant sacrifices and held the family together when things were tough.
She became particularly emotional while reflecting on how her mother remained supportive through the years, only for her father to allegedly move on after becoming financially stable.
She concluded by withdrawing her earlier wish to marry someone like her father, saying the man who raised her was an exceptional father, but she no longer recognises the person he has become.
She sarcastically wished her father well ahead of his September 10 wedding, adding that she would simply “mind her business” as the event approaches.
