Burna Boy Offers to Cover Funeral Costs for Victims of U.S. Birthday Party Mass Shooting

Celebrity Gossip

Nigerian music star Burna Boy has pledged to pay the funeral expenses for the four young people killed in a mass shooting at a children’s birthday party in Stockton, California.

The victims, aged 8 to 21, were shot dead on Saturday, November 29, at Monkey Space, a banquet hall in unincorporated San Joaquin County. Eleven others were injured in what authorities have described as a targeted attack.

Speaking through a statement shared with the Stockton Record, Burna Boy said he first learned of the tragedy while listening to “The Breakfast Club” radio show.

“My heart broke when I heard about the children murdered in Stockton,” he said. “No family should endure this kind of pain alone. I wanted to do whatever I could to support these parents as they begin the difficult process of healing.”

After reaching out to music executive Wack 100, the Grammy winner was connected to Stockton Vice Mayor Jason Lee, who confirmed Burna Boy’s commitment to assist the grieving families.

The artist was particularly moved by the story of 14-year-old Amari Peterson, one of the victims, described in a GoFundMe campaign as a dedicated football and basketball player already preparing for college.

Vice Mayor Lee praised Burna Boy’s compassion toward families he has never met, saying his generosity should encourage others to support the devastated community.

As of Tuesday, December 2, no arrests had been made, and the incident continues to draw national attention amid renewed concerns over gun violence in the United States.

Burna Boy’s gesture comes shortly after he trended online for pausing a Colorado concert to call out a front-row couple who appeared to be sleeping during his performance.
