Suspected cultists have kidnapped five students of Rivers State University (RSU) from their off-campus lodge in Emuoha Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The attackers reportedly stormed the community in the early hours of the morning, broke into the students’ residence, and forcefully took them away to an unknown location. Residents said the gunmen operated for several minutes without resistance.
Local security groups and the police have since launched a search operation to track down the abductors and rescue the victims. Authorities have not yet released the identities of the kidnapped students, and no group has publicly claimed responsibility.

Community members have expressed fear over the growing insecurity around student lodges in the area and are calling on the state government and security agencies to increase patrols and strengthen protection for students living off campus.
The Rivers State Police Command is yet to issue an official statement as investigations continue.
