A female soldier and two children were injured following a grenade explosion in Nasarawa State, according to reports from security sources.
The incident occurred when an explosive device, believed to have been left behind in an apartment for several years, detonated accidentally. Preliminary findings indicate that the grenade was not recently planted but had remained undiscovered within the residence until the explosion occurred.
Eyewitnesses said the blast caused panic in the area, with residents rushing the injured victims to a nearby medical facility for treatment. The female soldier and the two children reportedly sustained varying degrees of injuries and are currently receiving medical care
Security operatives were immediately deployed to the scene to cordon off the area and prevent further danger. Authorities have since launched an investigation to determine how the explosive device came to be stored in the apartment and why it remained undetected for such a long period.
