A deadly clash between farmers and herders in Bursali Village, located in the Zaki Local Government Area of Bauchi State, has resulted in the death of one person, while five others have been arrested in connection with the incident.
According to community sources, trouble began after herders allegedly led their cattle into farmlands, sparking a confrontation with local farmers. The disagreement quickly escalated into violence, leaving one individual fatally injured.
Security operatives were deployed to the area to restore calm and prevent further escalation. Police authorities confirmed the arrests, adding that an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances leading to the confrontation and to identify all those involved.
Residents say tensions between farmers and herders in the region have been simmering for months, largely due to disputes over land encroachment and crop destruction.
