Islamic cleric Ahmad Gumi has asserted that the Federal Government of Nigeria is fully aware of the identities and whereabouts of terrorists operating in the country.
Speaking recently, Gumi emphasized that he does not engage armed groups on his own. “Whenever I meet with these groups, I am always accompanied by police and military personnel,” he said, highlighting the collaborative approach in his efforts to mediate with insurgents.
The cleric’s remarks come amid ongoing security challenges in parts of northern Nigeria, where armed groups continue to carry out attacks despite increased military operations. Gumi, known for his role in facilitating dialogue with bandits and militants, stressed the importance of structured engagement backed by government oversight to ensure safety and effectiveness.
He added that credible intelligence on terrorists’ locations is crucial for both negotiation efforts and strategic security planning, underscoring the government’s awareness of the threat landscape.
