Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and immediate past governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has strongly condemned the deadly bandit attacks on Shanono and Tsanyawa Local Government Areas of Kano State, where three residents were killed and several women and children abducted.
Ganduje described the incident as tragic and unacceptable, calling on security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the victims and restore peace in the affected communities. He also urged governments at all levels to strengthen collaboration and deploy more proactive measures to curb the rising wave of banditry across the region.
Meanwhile, in response to growing security concerns, the Ekiti State Police Command has announced heightened surveillance and strict border control measures across local government areas sharing boundaries with neighbouring states. The command said the move is aimed at preventing infiltration by criminal elements fleeing intensified operations in the North.
Police authorities assured residents of increased patrols, stop-and-search operations, and prompt response mechanisms to ensure the safety of lives and property.
Authorities in both states have appealed for calm, encouraging communities to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements to security agencies.
