Barely a month after directing the release and compensation of Abuja-based businesswoman, Mrs. Chineze Ozoadibe, the Director General of the State Security Service (DSS), Oluwatosin Adeola Ajayi, has ordered the release of another long-detained individual, Kenneth Okechukwu Nwafor.
Nwafor, who was arrested in July 2022 over allegations of involvement with the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has reportedly been in the agency’s custody for more than two years.

His release follows a fresh review by the DSS leadership, which has in recent weeks taken steps to address prolonged detentions and cases deemed unnecessary or lacking sufficient grounds for continued incarceration.
The directive to free Nwafor is part of ongoing internal reforms under Ajayi’s leadership aimed at ensuring accountability, adherence to legal processes, and improved public trust in the agency’s operations.
