Wike-Led Faction Takes Control of PDP National Secretariat in Abuja

News

The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has reportedly taken over the party’s national secretariat, Wadata Plaza, in Abuja.

According to party insiders, members of the Wike-aligned group arrived at the secretariat on Tuesday, asserting control amid ongoing internal disputes over the party’s leadership and direction.

Their presence heightened tensions within the PDP, which has been grappling with deepening divisions since the 2023 general elections.

The takeover comes as rival factions continue to battle for dominance, with each side accusing the other of attempting to destabilize the party. Security operatives were said to be on ground to prevent any breakdown of law and order as the situation unfolded.

The development marks another significant escalation in the crisis rocking the opposition party, raising fresh concerns about the PDP’s unity and its readiness ahead of future political engagements.
