Bandits Abduct Five Nursing Mothers in Kano, Kill Villagers in Taraba

News

Suspected bandits have kidnapped at least five nursing mothers during a fresh attack on Yan Kwada village in the Faruruwa community of Shanono Local Government Area, Kano State.

According to residents, the gunmen invaded the village in the early hours of Sunday, shooting sporadically and causing panic among locals. The attackers reportedly whisked away the women — all nursing mothers — while several others sustained injuries as they fled into nearby bushes for safety.

Community members lamented the absence of security operatives during the raid, saying the bandits operated freely for hours before escaping into the forest.

Meanwhile, in a separate attack in Taraba State, gunmen killed several villagers in an overnight assault on communities in the Bali Local Government Area.

Witnesses said the assailants razed houses and looted valuables before fleeing the scene.

Authorities in both Kano and Taraba States are yet to release official statements, but residents have called on the government to strengthen security and prevent further attacks in rural areas.
