The Ondo State Police Command has uncovered and dismantled a notorious sex trafficking syndicate that had been exploiting young women under the pretense of offering them lucrative job opportunities and social media influencing deals.
According to police reports, the syndicate lured unsuspecting victims — mostly teenagers and young women — through fake online advertisements promising modeling, entertainment, and hospitality jobs.
Upon arrival, the victims were held captive and forced into prostitution.Fifteen girls were successfully rescued during a coordinated raid on the group’s hideout following credible intelligence from concerned residents.
Several suspects linked to the trafficking ring have been arrested, and investigations are ongoing to apprehend other accomplices and identify the victims’ recruiters.
The Ondo State Commissioner of Police, condemned the criminal operation and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting vulnerable persons and eradicating human trafficking in the state.
He urged parents and guardians to monitor their children’s online activities closely and warned young people to be cautious of offers that appear “too good to be true.
”The rescued victims are currently receiving medical attention and psychological support, while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further action.
