One dead, eight rescued as three-storey building collapses in Lagos

One person has been confirmed dead following the collapse of a three-storey building in the Apapa area of Lagos State.The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), which confirmed the incident on Thursday, said the building caved in during the early hours of the day.According to LASEMA’s Director-General,

Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, emergency responders swiftly moved to the scene for rescue operations. Eight persons were rescued alive from the debris, while one adult male was recovered dead.He added that the injured victims were given first aid treatment before being taken to a nearby hospital for further medical attention.Oke-Osanyintolu said that officials from the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) and other relevant bodies had sealed off the area to prevent further casualties while investigation into the cause of the collapse was ongoing.
