The detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has abandoned his earlier plan to open his defence and call witnesses in his ongoing trial at the Federal High Court in Abuja.During Monday’s proceedings, Kanu’s legal team informed the court that they would no longer proceed with the presentation of witnesses, choosing instead to file a no-case submission — a legal move requesting the court to dismiss the charges on the grounds that the prosecution had failed to establish a prima facie case against him.

The decision marks a new twist in Kanu’s long-running legal battle with the Federal Government, which has accused him of several offences, including terrorism and treasonable felony.The court has adjourned the matter to allow Kanu’s counsel to formally file the no-case submission and for the prosecution to respond accordingly.
