Panic broke out on Saturday after unidentified gunmen invaded a market located within the Ojo Military Barracks in Lagos State, shooting dead a butcher identified simply as Ridwan.According to eyewitnesses, the assailants arrived the market around midday and headed straight for the victim’s stall before opening fire at close range.
The incident caused chaos as traders and customers fled in different directions to avoid being hit by stray bullets.Security operatives within the barracks were said to have immediately cordoned off the area, while the lifeless body of the butcher was later evacuated to the morgue.
As of press time, the motive behind the attack remained unclear, and no arrest had been made.The Lagos State Police Command and military authorities were yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
