News

The Nigeria Police Force has issued a stern warning to individuals and groups planning to stage protests around Aso Rock and its surrounding areas to demand the release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.In a statement on Sunday, the Force described any attempt to hold demonstrations near the Presidential Villa as a clear threat to national security and public order.

The police cautioned that security operatives have been placed on high alert to prevent any form of unrest or unlawful assembly within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).According to the statement, while the constitution guarantees the right to peaceful protest, such actions must not obstruct public peace, disrupt traffic flow, or compromise the safety of government institutions and citizens.

The Force reiterated its commitment to protecting the rights of Nigerians but warned that it would not tolerate any activity capable of breaching the peace or causing panic in the capital city.It therefore advised all groups and individuals to seek lawful and peaceful means of expressing their concerns, while assuring that adequate security measures have been deployed across Abuja to forestall any breakdown of law and order.
