Troops of the Nigerian Army have neutralised a notorious terrorist commander, Kachalla Maidawa, along with 35 other insurgents during a major operation in the North West region.According to military sources, the operation — carried out by troops of Operation Hadarin Daji — targeted several terrorist hideouts across Katsina and Zamfara States.
The troops engaged the insurgents in a fierce gun battle that lasted several hours, ultimately overwhelming the criminals.Intelligence reports revealed that Kachalla Maidawa, known for leading multiple attacks on villages and highways, had been on the military’s wanted list for years. His gang was responsible for killings, kidnappings, and cattle rustling across the region.During the raid, troops also recovered a cache of weapons and ammunition, including AK-47 rifles, machine guns, and several motorcycles used by the terrorists for swift attacks.
A military statement described the operation as a “major breakthrough” in the ongoing fight against terrorism and banditry in the North West. It added that pursuit operations are continuing to track down fleeing members of the group.Locals in the affected communities have expressed relief, praising the troops for restoring a sense of safety to the area.The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations until peace and security are fully restored.
