Earlier today, I carried out an unscheduled inspection of the ongoing construction of the six-lane dual carriageway access road leading to the proposed Waterfront City in Asaba. This strategic road project is a vital component of our broader vision to open up new urban spaces, stimulate economic activities, and provide seamless connectivity to what is set to become one of Delta State’s most ambitious urban development initiatives.

I am pleased to announce that the project, which has already met all contractual obligations—including the full payment of compensation to affected persons—is now at an advanced stage of 95 percent completion. This significant progress is a strong indication of our administration’s unwavering commitment to infrastructure development as a foundation for growth and prosperity.

During the inspection, I was briefed extensively by the Special Project Director, Barrister Victor Ebonka, who provided updates on the technical aspects of the project and the timelines for its final completion. In my interaction with the contractors, North China Construction Company and FourthLand Engineering, I emphasized the importance of adhering strictly to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the government.

I made it clear that the people of Delta State are eager to see the timely delivery of this project, and no excuses will be entertained.

Furthermore, I charged the construction firms to ensure the deployment of English cutter dredgers, which are critical to achieving the desired dredging outcomes necessary for the road’s stability and long-term sustainability. Proper dredging will not only enhance the structural integrity of the access road but also secure the surrounding environment from potential erosion and flooding.

The Waterfront City Access Road is more than just an infrastructure project; it is a gateway to future opportunities, improved living standards, and expanded commercial possibilities for our people.

My administration will continue to monitor the progress closely until its completion, ensuring that Delta State residents receive nothing short of the best.
