A Ukrainian drone attack ignited a fire that claimed the lives of a child and a grandmother in a town outside Moscow overnight, Russian authorities said on Monday.According to the regional governor, emergency services were deployed after the drone strike triggered a blaze that engulfed a residential building.

Despite efforts to contain the fire, both victims were confirmed dead at the scene.Russia’s Defence Ministry said its air defence units intercepted several incoming drones overnight but admitted that some managed to reach targets in the Moscow region.

The latest incident adds to a growing number of cross-border strikes that have intensified in recent weeks, as Kyiv continues to push its drone campaign deeper into Russian territory.Moscow has repeatedly accused Ukraine of targeting civilian infrastructure, while Kyiv insists its operations are aimed at disrupting Russia’s military capabilities behind the frontlines.Authorities said an investigation has been opened into the attack.
