A fire incident on Saturday gutted a one-storey building popularly known as the MTN Office in Awka, the Anambra State capital.The building, located in Awka South Local Government Area, was reportedly engulfed in flames, causing panic among residents and business operators in the area.
Eyewitnesses said the fire started in the early hours of the day, though the exact cause of the outbreak was yet to be ascertained.Emergency responders, including men of the Anambra State Fire Service, were immediately mobilised to the scene to put the situation under control and prevent the fire from spreading to adjoining structures.
As of the time of filing this report, no casualties had been confirmed, but several offices and properties within the building were said to have been destroyed.Authorities have commenced investigations to determine the cause of the incident.
