Former Oyo State Governor, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, has been formally installed as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland in a colourful coronation ceremony that drew traditional rulers, political leaders, and dignitaries from across the country.
The historic event, held in the ancient city of Ibadan, was marked by pomp and pageantry as cultural troupes, royal guards, and indigenes of Ibadanland thronged the venue to witness the installation of their new monarch.Ladoja, a respected politician and elder statesman, ascended the throne following the completion of traditional rites that paved the way for his coronation. His elevation is seen as a significant milestone, not only for Ibadan but also for Oyo State at large, given his political influence and long-standing contributions to the development of the region.
The new Olubadan pledged to uphold the customs of Ibadanland, foster unity among its people, and work towards peace and progress in the kingdom.With his installation, Ladoja joins the long line of revered rulers who have steered the traditional affairs of Ibadan, the largest city in West Africa.
