Businessman and renowned socialite, Obi Cubana, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take decisive steps toward securing the release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
According to Cubana, lasting peace, unity, and social stability in Igbo-speaking regions cannot be fully achieved until Kanu regains his freedom. He emphasized that many issues affecting the Southeast — from rising tensions to economic disruptions — are deeply tied to the ongoing agitation surrounding Kanu’s detention.
Cubana urged the President to prioritize dialogue, reconciliation, and justice, adding that releasing Kanu would not only calm existing unrest but also open the door for meaningful engagement between the government and the people of the region. He maintained that the move would signal a new era of national unity, trust-building, and progress for Nigeria as a whole.
