A tragic building collapse in the Ebute-Metta area of Lagos has led to one confirmed fatality and the rescue of eight trapped individuals. The incident, which occurred at approximately 8 p.m. on a Friday evening, involved a four-storey building that was under construction at 333 Borno Way, Alagomeji.


Emergency responders from the Lagos State emergency team, including the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and the Nigeria Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), were swiftly deployed to the scene. Their diligent search and rescue operations were successful in extricating eight male construction workers from the rubble. These victims were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.


Unfortunately, despite the valiant efforts of the rescue teams, a body was later recovered from the collapsed structure and transported to the morgue. The identity of the deceased individual is currently pending further investigation.

The scene has since reached ground zero, with all search and rescue efforts completed and the evacuation of the building’s debris ongoing.
