Warri, Delta State – In a swift response to emerging reports of a potential crisis, Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has issued a strong appeal for calm, urging stakeholders in the oil city of Warri to exercise caution and restraint.
The governor’s statement, released on Saturday through his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, follows concerns of a brewing conflict between the Itsekiri and Urhobo ethnic groups residing in the Warri South Local Government Area.
Governor Oborevwori emphasized the critical importance of maintaining peace and stability in the region. We appeal to all stakeholders to support our efforts in revitalizing infrastructure in Warri and avoid all acts capable of truncating the current peace in the oil-rich city,” the governor stated.
He underscored the administration’s deep commitment to the development and revitalization of Warri’s infrastructure, stressing that genuine and sustainable progress can only be achieved in an atmosphere of harmony.
The governor highlighted that peace is the single most crucial factor for unlocking the vast economic potential of the city and for ensuring the success of ongoing development projects.
