President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that no religion or holy teaching supports banditry, killings, or any form of criminal violence, stressing that human life remains sacred under every faith.
The President made the statement on Wednesday while addressing concerns over rising insecurity and violent attacks in parts of the country. He said criminals hiding under religious or ethnic identities to commit atrocities were acting against the teachings of God.
According to Tinubu, no scripture anywhere in the world permits the unlawful taking of innocent lives, destruction of communities, or acts of terror against citizens.
He noted that Nigeria’s religious diversity should unite the country rather than divide it, urging religious leaders to continue preaching peace, tolerance, and love among citizens.
The President also assured Nigerians that his administration remains committed to tackling insecurity and restoring peace across the nation. He said security agencies had been directed to intensify efforts against bandits, kidnappers, terrorists, and other criminal groups threatening the safety of Nigerians.
Tinubu further appealed to citizens to support security agencies with credible information, emphasizing that lasting peace can only be achieved through collective responsibility and national unity.
He reiterated that violence carried out in the name of religion is unacceptable and condemned all forms of extremism, adding that Nigerians must continue to uphold the values of humanity, compassion, and peaceful coexistence.
