A fatal road traffic accident on the Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway in Ogun State has claimed the lives of three people, including a minor and two adult males.
The crash occurred on Saturday evening along the Daywaterman axis, very close to Onipepeye, inbound Abeokuta on the PMB Expressway. It involved an unregistered Dongfeng truck belonging to the Ministry of Environment (with no number plate) and a Toyota minibus branded for a political campaign (also without a number plate).
According to Babatunde Akinbiyi, Head of Media and Publicity for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), preliminary investigations and eyewitness accounts showed that the truck was driven in a wrongful and dangerous manner, leading it to ram into the rear of the minibus.
Five people were involved in the incident. The impact resulted in the instant deaths of three victims — a minor and two adult males — while two females sustained injuries. The injured victims were rescued by their families before the arrival of emergency responders. The bodies of the deceased were recovered and taken to Ijaye General Hospital by officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). The Ogun State Ambulance Service was also contacted.

No further details on the identities or ages of the victims have been released. The incident adds to concerns over road safety on the busy expressway, with dangerous driving and unregistered vehicles cited as contributing factors.
TRACE and FRSC officials visited the scene, and investigations into the exact circumstances are ongoing.
