A faction of the terrorist group known as Boko Haram, identified as Jama’atu Ahlis-Sunna Lidda’Awati Wal-Jihad (JAS), has released a video displaying hundreds of abducted individuals taken from Ngoshe, a community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
According to reports, the video features approximately 416 victims who were kidnapped during recent attacks in the area. In the footage, the group attempts to portray the captives as being in stable condition, claiming that they are healthy and have not been subjected to torture or sexual abuse.
The insurgents, however, did not provide any indication of when the victims might be released or if negotiations are underway with authorities or families.
Ngoshe and surrounding communities in southern Borno have long been affected by insurgent activities, with residents frequently facing attacks, abductions, and displacement due to the ongoing conflict in the region.
Security experts warn that such videos are often used as propaganda tools by extremist groups to control narratives, create fear, and exert pressure on governments and affected communities.
As of now, Nigerian authorities have not issued an official statement regarding the video or the status of efforts to rescue the abducted victims.
