Youths in Kwara State have taken to the streets in protest over the prolonged captivity of 176 abducted women and children, calling on authorities to intensify efforts toward their rescue.
The demonstrators expressed deep frustration over what they described as a slow response from the government and security agencies, insisting that the lives of the victims remain at serious risk. Carrying placards and chanting solidarity songs, the protesters urged both state and federal authorities to act swiftly and decisively to secure the release of the abductees.
According to the youths, the continued silence and lack of visible progress have heightened fear and anxiety among families of the victims and residents of affected communities. They stressed that the situation has dragged on for too long and requires immediate intervention.
The protesters also appealed for improved security measures across vulnerable areas in the state, noting that recurring incidents of abduction have created a climate of insecurity. They emphasized that protecting lives should be a top priority and called for better intelligence gathering and rapid response strategies.
They concluded by demanding accountability from relevant agencies and reaffirmed their commitment to sustained peaceful protests until concrete action is taken and the abducted women and children are safely returned.
