According to local sources, the assailants invaded the community in the early hours, opening fire on residents working on their farms. Two farmers were killed during the attack, while several others sustained injuries and escaped into nearby bushes for safety.

The renewed violence has triggered mass displacement, with entire communities now deserted as residents abandon their homes in search of safety in neighbouring towns and villages. Farmlands have also been left unattended, raising concerns over food security and livelihoods in the area.

Community leaders expressed frustration over the recurring attacks, accusing the perpetrators of operating freely and calling on security agencies and the Benue State Government to urgently step up protection for rural communities.

As of the time of this report, no arrest has been made, and security operatives are yet to issue an official statement on the incident. Residents fear that without immediate intervention, more lives could be lost and the humanitarian situation could worsen.
