Former U.S. President Donald Trump is considering a range of military options against Iran as tensions rise over Tehran’s handling of internal unrest and its continued defiance of Western pressure.
According to reports, Trump’s advisers have outlined several possible courses of action, stopping short of a full-scale war but aimed at pressuring the Iranian government. One key option involves targeted air and missile strikes on Iranian military assets, including bases linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), missile facilities and command centres. Such strikes would rely mainly on U.S. air power and naval capabilities, rather than ground troops.
Another option under consideration is the use of cyber operations, designed to disrupt Iran’s military communications, surveillance systems and digital infrastructure. These measures could be paired with psychological operations targeting state media and official messaging, in a bid to weaken the government’s control and influence.

Alongside military tools, Trump is also weighing economic pressure, including tougher sanctions and penalties on countries that continue to trade with Iran. These measures are seen as a way to intensify pressure without immediate use of force.
Iran has warned that any U.S. attack would be met with retaliation, raising fears of a wider regional conflict involving U.S. allies in the Middle East. Despite the sharp rhetoric, officials on both sides say diplomatic communication channels remain open.
For now, no final decision has been announced, but analysts say the situation remains fluid as Trump balances calls for decisive action against concerns over the consequences of military escalation.
