The Delta State Police Command has arrested a notorious kidnapping suspect and recovered a cache of firearms during a security operation in the state.
According to the police, the suspect was apprehended following credible intelligence that led operatives to his hideout. A search of the premises resulted in the recovery of dangerous weapons, including AK-47 and K-2 rifles, along with ammunition believed to have been used in criminal activities across parts of the state.
Police sources said the suspect is a key member of a kidnapping syndicate that has been terrorising residents, particularly along major roads and rural communities. The arrest, they noted, is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks and restore public confidence in security.
The Command stated that preliminary investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the suspect’s operations and to identify other members of the gang. The recovered weapons have been taken into police custody for forensic examination.
The Delta State Police Command reassured residents of its commitment to fighting crime and urged the public to continue providing useful information that can aid security agencies in keeping the state safe.
The suspect is expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
