The defense chiefs of the United States and Japan have voiced deep concerns over recent Chinese military activities, warning that such actions are undermining peace and stability in the region.

During a joint statement, the officials highlighted incidents including a recent radar-lock maneuver by Chinese forces, which they described as “provocative” and “destabilizing.” They emphasized that these actions increase tensions and could escalate into dangerous confrontations if left unchecked.

Both defense leaders reiterated their commitment to maintaining a free and open Indo-Pacific, stressing the importance of diplomacy and cooperation to prevent conflicts. They called on China to exercise restraint and abide by international norms, warning that continued aggressive behavior threatens not only regional security but global stability.

The statement comes amid rising concerns over China’s expanding military presence in the East and South China Seas, and ongoing disputes with neighboring countries over territorial waters and airspace.
