Suspected bandits have carried out a deadly early-morning attack on Omi-Ara community in Kogi State, leaving many residents feared abducted.

Eyewitnesses said the attackers stormed the community in the early hours, shooting sporadically and causing panic among residents. During the raid, several people were reportedly taken away, though the exact number of abducted victims remains unknown as of the time of filing this report.

Residents who escaped the attack said the gunmen moved from house to house, forcing people to flee into nearby bushes for safety. Some homes were reportedly vandalised, while valuables were stolen.

Security operatives have since been alerted, and efforts are ongoing to restore calm in the area. Authorities are yet to release an official statement on the incident, but locals are calling for increased security presence to prevent further attacks.

The incident adds to growing concerns over insecurity in parts of Kogi State, as residents continue to appeal to the government for urgent intervention to protect lives and property.
