Terrorists Abduct Newly Elected Biu LG Vice Chairman, Two Councillors in Borno

News

Suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP insurgents have abducted the newly elected Vice Chairman of Biu Local Government Area of Borno State, Alhaji Saidu, along with two councillors and several other passengers.

The incident occurred along the notorious Kamuya–Buni Yadi road, a route long known for terrorist attacks and kidnappings. The victims were reportedly traveling to Maiduguri following the conclusion of the local government elections when their vehicle was intercepted by the armed insurgents.

Sources said the attackers stopped vehicles along the highway before forcefully taking the victims into the bush. The exact number of passengers abducted remains unclear as of the time of filing this report.

Security agencies have reportedly been alerted, and efforts are ongoing to track down the abductors and secure the release of the victims. Residents of the area have once again raised concerns over the persistent insecurity on the Kamuya–Buni Yadi axis, calling on the government to intensify military presence and ensure the safety of travelers on the road.

No official statement has yet been issued by the Borno State Government or security authorities regarding the abduction.
