
President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji for emerging as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Osun State after Saturday’s primary election.
Tinubu described Oyebamiji’s victory as the beginning of the journey to reclaim Osun for the progressive fold in 2026. He praised the Osun APC for the unity and reconciliation displayed during the affirmation-based primary.
The President also commended aspirants who stepped down for Oyebamiji, highlighting their loyalty and commitment to the party. He urged Oyebamiji to embrace all party leaders and former aspirants, promoting inclusivity as the APC moves forward.

In a statement by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu said: “The journey to reclaim Osun State for the progressive fold in the 2026 governorship election has begun. I urge all APC members and leaders in the state to remain focused, united, and resolute. Victory is achievable, and together, we will succeed.”
The primary election, held in Osogbo and chaired by Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, saw party delegates unanimously affirm Oyebamiji’s candidacy.
