According to a statement, Tinubu said that earlier in the day, acting on his directive, Nigerian troops promptly supported the Beninese government in defending constitutional order. He emphasized that the intervention fully complied with the ECOWAS Protocol on Democracy and Good Governance.
The President noted that the troops’ efforts helped stabilise the situation in the neighbouring country, once again demonstrating their commitment to safeguarding democratic values—a principle Nigeria has upheld since 1999. He praised their professionalism, adding that their actions had brought pride to the nation.
