Nigerian rapper and activist Eedris Abdulkareem says his Facebook and Instagram accounts have been suspended following the release of his latest protest track, “Open Letter to Donald Trump.” The musician disclosed the development in a conversation with SaharaReporters, noting that he has been unable to access the platforms since the song went public.
“Facebook just suspended my Facebook and Instagram account because of my new song, Open Letter to Donald Trump,” he said. Checks confirmed that both social media accounts are currently inaccessible. Meta has not issued any explanation or indicated how long the suspension will last.
Released in November 2025 under his label, Lakreem Entertainment, the song delivers a blistering critique of corruption, insecurity, and misgovernance in Nigeria. Although framed as a letter to former U.S. President Donald Trump, its core message is directed squarely at Nigeria’s political class. Abdulkareem accuses government officials of enriching themselves while citizens grapple with hardship, describing the ruling elite as “criminals of all shades and hues.”
The track also spotlights Nigeria’s deepening insecurity—rampant kidnappings, killings, and terrorism—urging the international community to pay attention to the struggles of ordinary Nigerians.
“Open Letter to Donald Trump” continues Abdulkareem’s long-standing tradition of politically charged music. His earlier hit, “Jaga Jaga,” became an anthem of protest against corruption, while another recent release, “Tell Your Papa,” was banned by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) in April 2025 over what regulators called “objectionable lyrics.”
Despite repeated censorship attempts, Abdulkareem remains one of Nigeria’s most outspoken musical critics of government excesses, using his art to amplify public frustration and demand accountability from the nation’s leaders.
