Mazi Nnamdi Kanu Court Update – June 19, 2025

Entertainment

Today, the legal proceedings involving Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and the Federal Government continued with the formal introduction of both legal teams.

The fifth prosecution witness, identified as PW-EEE, was called for cross-examination. Due to strict surveillance by DSS operatives and a court order prohibiting real-time reporting, live updates from the courtroom were not available to avoid contempt of court.

Despite the reporting blackout, sources confirmed that the cross-examination of PW-EEE has been completed.
In a significant turn of events, the prosecution team, led by Awomolo SAN, officially closed their case after presenting all their witnesses.

Following this, the defense counsel, headed by Kanu Agabi SAN, filed a No-Case Submission. This application argues that the prosecution has not presented sufficient evidence to justify continuing the trial.

Consequently, Justice James Omotosho has adjourned the case to July 18, 2025. On this date, both parties will adopt their written addresses concerning the No-Case Submission.
