The Nigerian Army has recorded major breakthroughs in its ongoing counterterrorism and internal security operations, neutralizing dozens of terrorists, rescuing kidnapped civilians, and making significant arrests across multiple theatres within one week.
In a statement released on Friday, the Army reported that coordinated ground and air offensives were carried out in the North-East, North-West, and North-Central regions, targeting terrorist hideouts, logistics hubs, and criminal enclaves.
According to the report, troops successfully neutralized scores of fighters, while several others fled with gunshot wounds during intense confrontations. The operations also led to the arrest of 57 suspects, including collaborators, informants, and logistics suppliers linked to terror networks.
A major highlight of the week’s operations was the rescue of 45 kidnapped victims, who were safely evacuated to medical facilities for evaluation and later reunited with their families. Many of the victims had been held captive for weeks by different criminal groups.
The Army noted that multiple weapons, ammunition, motorcycles, and communication devices were recovered, significantly degrading the operational capability of the terrorist cells.
The statement reaffirmed the military’s commitment to sustaining the momentum until all terrorists, bandits, and criminal elements threatening the peace and safety of Nigerians are completely dismantled.
The Army also urged citizens to continue providing timely information that could support ongoing operations, stressing that public cooperation remains vital to securing communities nationwide.
