A renewed wave of terror hit Katsina State on Tuesday night as armed bandits stormed Doguwar Ɗorawa, a village located just about two kilometres from Guga in Bakori Local Government Area.
The attackers reportedly targeted the community around nightfall, unleashing violence that claimed the lives of two elderly community leaders. Residents said the victims were well-respected elders who had remained in the community despite the persistent insecurity in the region.In addition to the killings, several villagers— including women and youths—were abducted and taken into the nearby forest by the gunmen.
The exact number of those kidnapped was still unclear as of the time of reporting, but locals described it as “many.”The incident has further heightened fear in Bakori and neighbouring communities, which have endured repeated bandit incursions in recent months.
Locals have called on security agencies to intensify patrols and rescue efforts, expressing frustration over the increasing attacks despite government assurances.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the latest assault.
