The Enugu State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of thirteen male suspects allegedly involved in an ambush on police officers in Akpakume community, Udi Local Government Area of the state.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, the suspects were apprehended following a coordinated intelligence-led operation launched after the attack. The ambush, which occurred last week, reportedly left some officers injured and caused damage to police patrol vehicles.
The police stated that preliminary investigations revealed the suspects were part of a criminal gang terrorizing parts of Udi and its neighboring communities. Items recovered from them include locally made firearms, ammunition, charms, and other incriminating materials.

Commissioner of Police, Kanayo Uzuegbu, commended the officers for their swift response and assured residents that the command remains resolute in its commitment to rid Enugu State of criminal elements.
He also urged members of the public to continue providing useful information that could assist in ongoing investigations and ensure the arrest of other fleeing members of the gang.
